"If you have not read the Book of Mormon... READ IT!"

April 24,2017
"Hello everyone! So this week was kind of fun! My Birthday was Saturday and my comps is Today! So this week was a little tough. We werent able to find anyone to talk with about the restored gospel of Christ. Everyone person we talked to either lived some where else or they werent married. So when Saturday came around we just went straight to work. We worked and talked with everyone and still nothing until yesterday we decided to go on divisions with members in the ward so we could be in two places at once. It was succesful. I was able to find a family with a member Justin and we were able to teach them! They are a family of 3 and really really confused about religion but we were able to help them and they are really excited to go this Sunday! I know thats not much! But I hope all is well. I really hope you are all readin gyour sciptures every night and saying your prayers too. It will help you all I promise!"

"Hello everyone! Hope all is well at home! Things are all good here in Peru! This week was a little harder but thats alright! We werent able to get many people to Church this Sunday so thats the worst ha. But its ok. Me and my companion are doing well! We have transfers tonight so one of us might leave maybe not who knows but im prepared for anything!

So this week i have been thinking a lot about a few things I wish I wouldve done or done better before my mission that wouldve helped me during my mission. And I would like to share with all of you who are preparing to serve a mission what I think would help you best.
First: SEMINARY!
I was the worst in seminary. I didnt care. Didnt want to go. When I did go I was on my phone. When they took my phone away I slept. And I really really regret it. I feel bad for my teachers. I feel bad for my classmates. It was just bad. In seminary we have a huge oppurtunity to actually learn about the Scriptures. It really really wouldve come in handy all those scriputre masterys and all those stories. Now im on my own to learn all those things. AND highschoolers in Utah have the chance to take it as a class. Others wake up at 5 in the morning so they can go before school. So GO TO SEMINARY AND LISTEN! I remember I was called as a "Class President" and when my teacher announced it my class laughed haha. I laughed. No one believed but my teacher was dead serious. And im forever grateful for being able to be class pres. My teacher was really trying to help me and I am so grateful for that.
Second: CHURCH!
Go to church but with a good attitude. Go and keep your phone in your pocket and listen. We can always learn something. Again. I went to church with a bad attitude. I went to Church and tried to play on my phone to pass the time. Again I feel as a bad example but this time for my brothers and my ward members. I cant wait for the day when I can go back and be a true and helpful member for my ward. People preparing for the mission talk with your bishop. Ask for less actives you can visit. Or an assignment. Help as much as you can. Dont be a burden.
Third: STUDY YOUR SCRIPTURES!
Study your scriutres every day. There is ALWAYS 10 minutes to read the scriputres. I promise you all that if you can read your scriptures every day you will grow closer to our Savior. I was also terrible at that but I did try.
Fourth: LISTEN TO YOUR PARENTS AND ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU LIFE GOALS!
Many of you right now might be asking "Why the heck is this kid on a mission?" haha. But I will tell you why. Because when I got baptized at 8 years old I remember thinking about a mission. I made my mission a goal ever since I was little. And I was never going to let anything get in the way. Even if I wasnt totally prepared with all the knowledge. I knew it was what God wanted me to do. My parents have guided me each step of the way. My mom always took my phone away from me in church. She always yelled at the top of her lungs to wake me up and get ready. She was so upset when I didnt go to seminary. Thanks to that I was learing and growing spiritually. Even when I didnt know it. Your parents know more than you do. Let them help you.
I love you all!"

"Sorry everyone this week is going to be a little short! But its ok cause its not like anyone reads it anyway ;) but for those of you who do read it I just wanted to talk about callings in the Church. Whether it be deacons quorom president or Elders quorom president or secretary or missionary. Theres a scripture that I absolutely love in D&C 107: 99,100 I dont have my scriptures so sorry if its not completely correct ha. "Wherefore let every man learn his duty and act intto the office of which he has been appointed in all dilligence, He that is slothful shall not be counted worthy to stand and he that learns not his duty and shows himself not approved shall not be counted worthy to stand even so Amen." Whatever calling you have in the church we must not be slothful and we must do it dilligently or else we "shall not be counted worthy to stand." Love you all

Heres one pic haha. This week wasnt too eventful. Wednesday night I threw up about 8 times and was in bed all of Thursday but im 100 percent now so dont worry! This is one of our members we are helping prepare for a mission and apparentely thats the sign some soccer player does when he scores haha."

"Well this email is going to be really short! IM GONNA BE AN UNCLE!!!! My sister Mia is going to have a baby in November so crazy and my other sister is getting married here in a few weeks! Wow things are crazy. I had the awesome oppurtunity to talk with my amazing family yesterday and I just wanted to tell everyone how much I love my mom and how amazing of a person she is. She ALWAYS tries to make her kids the happiest they can be. Everyone should spend more time with their mom because they love you more than any of your friends or anyone else on the earth. My mom loves me so much and always have even when I was just dumb and annoyed by my mom she still just loved me. Even when I thought I could handle all my problems on my own she just loved me and still helped. So I just wanted to say happy mothers day to my amazing beautiful mom. I LOVE YOU MOM!"

"What another awesome week here in Lima. We were able to baptize Hector Uriol on Saturday and it was so awesome. I did the ordinance and he was so happy at the end. He asked me what to say when he was to give his testimony and I told him to tell them how to feel and to encourage them to be baptized and he said hed do it. And his testimony was the first time that I have cried in public in my mission. I have never heard such a powerful testimony from a 13 year old boy. He said with tears in his eyes: "I feel very changed. I feel like im not going to fight with my parents anymore or my sister" Then he paused and tried so so hard not to cry but he couldnt hold back tears and said "I am so very greatful for the Elders who brought the Book of Mormon into my family. Thanks to them and the Book of Mormon our whole family is so much more happier and its changed our lives." and he started to cry uncontrollably. There wasnt a dry eye in that room I dont think. Then he ended his testimony with "If any of you havent been baptized you should do it because its like being born again and it will change you like its changed my family." Then he sat down by me and I put my arm around him and just cried for a second. It was incredible. And the next day we were able to baptize Hermana Celeste (a 9 year old girl) and her grandma Cecilia. Hermana Cecilia has been going to church for 4 years but has always had problems with missionaries and with her other children who arent members. But we were able to help her recognize the anwsers shes recieved in her life. And we were able to baptize her with her Grand daughter and almost all of her kids were able to go and watch and support. Even one of them who has really harsh feelings of the church and its was an amazing experience. But I just want to testify of the words of Hector Uriol. I know that the Book of Mormon changes lives. Ive witnsessed it and ive experienced it.
Love you all hope all is well!
Heres the pictures of the baptisms and a picture of our Bishop holding the children captive on one of the classrooms because they were screaming and running around hahaha"

"Hello everyone! I really was thinking hard what to say today but I dont have much to say... I just want to reflect on what our President sent us today! The importance of PRAYER!
So the book of Enos is just really awesome. Even though its really short it is just a really cool story about The Prophet crying to the heavens for repentance of his sins. We should all live by the example of him. Every night we should kneel down and cry to the Lord in humble prayer. We must be sincere and we must pray with all our hearts. The Lord wants to hear our prayers I promise but we cant be selfish. We must thank for all that we have. Then we can ask for the things that we need. Prayer is an incredible gift from God and we should always use it. I remember at home I would be laying in my bed half asleep and I would remember that I hadnt prayed yet... So i crossed my arms (yes still laying down) and tried my best to say a prayer... i fell asleep about 90 percent of the time ha. When we pray we need to kneel. Not in our bed but on the floor and call upon the heavens. The Lord always hears us and will always anwser our prayers! Love you all and hope you had an awesome week."

"Hello everyone!! Good week here in Peru! Its coming to the end of this transfers and tonight we will found out what will happen! I had a really cool experience this week!
So in our district meeting we were doing practices about the commandments! So we had to pretty much guess the persons commandment that they had a problem with and help build their testimony but we only had about 5 minutes to do it all. So we started talking and my companion talked a lot... but then I felt the need to ask him about tithing. So I asked him and he asked me "Whats that?" and then we were able to help him from there. Yes it was another missionary and it was only a practice but that same day I was able to have an experience like that but with a real investigator!
We have an investigator and her name is Julissa and she is so awesome. She was talking with missionaries from another church and they taught her some anti doctorine of the Church so she had a lot of questions and we have anwsered all of them and she has been reading the Book of Mormon and she knows its true. She has progressed a lot. She goes to Church every week and has asked the other missionaries to stop visiting her. So what happened was we were in a lesson and we were trying to figure out what more we needed to teach her or what she lacked for her baptism. We were teaching and teaching and I felt the need to talk about the Word of Wisdom, even though we have already taught her about it. But not only the Word of Wisdom in general the word "Tea" came to mind. So I asked her about it. And she told us that she drinks tea still! We were able to tell her why its not good for her and what not and now she has a baptism date for this Saturday! It was a really awesome experience.
This week we had 2 general authorities visit us which was awesome Elder Christensen and Elder Godoy and also was able to talk with Elder Brough 2nd councilor in young mens general presidency becuase his daughter was in my district and she went home yesterday haha. That was cool. Well I will send pics in a sec. Love you all! Hope to hear from everyone!"

"Hello everyone! I hope all is well and I hope that you all had an awesome week! I have been transferred! Its always sad to say goodbye but I have been blessed to be in another awesome area here in ENSANADA!!! Im in the same district as my Zone Leaders and im in the same zone haha. I basically am on the other side of the hill of Laderas. So thats fun more hills haha. We have already been able to see many miracles in my area. Im here with Elder Fuentealba whos from Chile and has 2 transfers in the mission but is a very good missionary. Things are awesome. We didnt have much time to work as much as we wanted thanks to a few trainings and trips to the office but he have a miracle baptism this Saturday! My comp has been working with this single mom and her 2 kids the last few weeks but a problem occured two weeks ago and my companion and his old comp thought it was best to lay off for a little but when I got here I wanted to meet her haha. So we went and talked with her and she really is one of the most amazing people I have met. She was a little wild in her teenage years but she has such a strong testimony and STUDIES the Book of Mormon. She talked with us for a while and told us she wants to be baptized and told us about how she had a dream of the First Vision hahah so awesome. She had her interview with our Zone Leaders and about the only problem was that she has a piercing on her eye brow but she is more than willing to take it out. She is the best and she is going to be baptized with her two kids this Saturday. Pray for Mabely! The power of the Book of Mormon is incredible in the conversion of investigators and is very important for the continual conversion of us as members. \"If you have not read the Book of Mormon... READ IT!"
President Thomas S. Monson

also happy fathers day to my bestfriend in the world. I am so grateful to have a dad who works so so hard fo his children. 7 days a week for the last couple years just so us kids and his wife could have the things we wanted and needed. But most importantly being the best councilor and person to talk to in the world. Im so very grateful to have a dad so hard working, loving, and funny. And to have such a great example in my life. Love you dad!"

"So this week was a very good week! We were able to baptize Mabely and her little dude Alex! They are so awesome! Sorry I dont have any pics because my camera was dead and my comps camera is with other missionaries for some weird reason... But It was still very awesome. This week we worked very hard to find new people to teach because after that baptism they didnt really have anyone else... But have been working very hard to find new people to teach and we were blessed to find some awesome people! So I just wanted you all to know how much I love the mission. Its the best thing in the world. Ive met some of the most amazing people in the world thanks to my mission and I have also gotten so much closer to the Lord. I love it with all my heart and I cant even come close to explaining it. I know its not much today but thats all I wanted to say haha. Love you all and I hope you are all doing good at home! Love you all so much!

I only have one pic which is of the lady who wakes us up every morning by shouting in the streets "TAMALES!!" We dont even need to set an alarm anymore!"
